Land Council Information Meeting - January 21, 2016 8:30 a.m.
Meeting was called to order by Marilyn Pierce. Members present were Marilyn
Pierce, John Anderson, Chris Johll, Tammy Hampton, Bob Keeney, Travis Kramer,
and Louise Ketterer. Also present was Jay Adams, Adams Engineering & Surveying,
LLC. Motion was made by John Anderson to approve the minutes of the meeting
of January 15, 2016, second by Chris Johll. Motion carried.
John stated we are looking to appoint a County Surveyor. Grant money would be
available. Grant County needs coordinates on everything and a comprehensive look
at each corner. Jay Adams gave some information regarding his interest in the
County Surveyor position. He agrees on coordinates and a comprehensive look at
each corner. Discussion was held regarding remonumentation of section corners, if
50 per year would be feasible, or a whole township. Jay Adams states it is possible.
The time frames, what standardized stable monuments would we want, and the
non-compete is discussed. We do need a County Surveyor as a resource.
Adams says that he is employed by the DOT for design and construction of
highways and bridges. Adams says that if there is an agreement from Grant County
it should not interfere with his job at DOT. Reimbursement would be $90/ Land
Info meeting plus mileage. An agreement with a job description would be drawn up
for the County Surveyor position.
Motion was made by Chris Johll to recommend the appointment of Jay Adams as
County Surveyor to the County Board, second by Bob Keeney. Motion carried.
Discussion was held about County Surveyor taking the Oath of Office.
Marilyn thought the Grant should be approved by February or March of this year.
Peer reviews are needed for Douglas and Monroe Counties Plans. We are to get
those to Marilyn by the middle of next week.
