HomeMy WebLinkAboutOM 4 12 17 minutesCommittee Minutes April 12, 2017 1 Orchard Manor/County Farm Committee Meeting Minutes April 12, 2017 Committee Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Chairman Patcle noted a quorum was present and certified the meeting was in compliance with the Open Meetings Law. Committee members present were Dale Hood, Dwight Nelson, Patricia Reynolds, and Robert Scallon. Grant County staff member, Carol Schwartz was present. Ron and Terri Abing also attended. Dale Hood made the motion seconded by Dwight Nelson to approve the agenda. Motion carried, voice vote. Dwight Nelson made the motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to approve the March 8, 2017 Orchard Manor and Farm Committee minutes. Motion carried, voice vote. Majestic View reported no concerns at the farm at this time. They are almost finished seeding. Patricia Reynolds made the motion seconded by Robert Scallon to approve the March 2017 farm cash balance statement and farm vouchers. Motion carried, voice vote. There are no new updates on the city sewer extension to Orchard Manor. IIW has submitted the report to the Department of Natural Resources. We have received three hard copies and a computer file copy. Johnson Controls has approached Orchard Manor about participation in a research study to see the effects of lighting changes on nursing home residents. The theory is residents would have fewer falls, fewer behavioral issues, and more restful sleep with lighting that mimicked natural lighting. Brighter lighting in staff areas during nighttime hours would also improve staff alertness. Johnson Controls said we could apply for a grant to fund this project. The grant funding would come from Civil Money Penalties nursing homes pay to Medicare. Another meeting is planned for April 21 for further discussion. Maintenance reported the electrical improvements in the Community Services Building have helped the computer issues in the building. The work in the geriatric dining room is finished, except the flooring. The cooling system in the medication storage room at the DD nurses station will need to be replaced. It has not been working properly for some time. The new bus will be getting the Orchard Manor decals put on today and is ready to use for transport. A recent fire inspection noted a push bar must be installed on a door in the 600 wing. Maintenance is getting quotes for that update. Orchard Manor will be changing satellite television providers. Dish Network will be the new provider. Residents will have more satellite channels available, as well as a number of channels via antenna. Work continues on the 400-wing covered entrance and appears to be on schedule. Carol Schwartz and the Committee discussed the following Orchard Manor issues:  The current census is 91 geriatric and 27 intellectually disabled residents.  The facility is still in need of 10 CNAs and one RN/LPN..  The referral bonus is in place.  Orchard Manor has signed up for a series of meetings regarding the new life safety code changes. Matt Thill will attend the six meetings at a total cost of $500.  Orchard Manor is researching how the State initiative to attract more CNAs works. It may require matching funds from facilities. Committee Minutes April 12, 2017 2  Nurses and managers are attending a series of six webinars pertaining to the new Mega Rule issued by Medicare. The total cost for the series is $150. Dwight Nelson made a motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to accept the March 2017 Orchard Manor Cash Balance Statements and vouchers as presented. Motion carried, voice vote. Chairman Patcle tentatively set Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. for the next meeting. Dwight Nelson made the motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to adjourn the meeting at 10:57 a.m. Motion carried, voice vote.
