HomeMy WebLinkAboutOM 5 10 17 minutesCommittee Minutes May 10, 2017 1 Orchard Manor/County Farm Committee Meeting Minutes May 10, 2017 Committee Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Chairman Patcle noted a quorum was present and certified the meeting was in compliance with the Open Meetings Law. Committee members present were Dale Hood, Dwight Nelson, Patricia Reynolds, and Robert Scallon. Grant County staff members, Robert Keeney and Carol Schwartz were present. Ron Abing also attended. Patricia Reynolds made the motion seconded by Dwight Nelson to approve the agenda. Motion carried, voice vote. Dale Hood made the motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to approve the April 12, 2017 Orchard Manor and Farm Committee minutes. Motion carried, voice vote. Majestic View reported they have finished planting corn. They have 300 acres of corn, 100 acres of hay, and 50 acres of new seeding. They have also hau led the sludge from the sewage treatment plant at no charge to Orchard Manor. Dwight Nelson made the motion seconded by Robert Scallon to approve the April 2017 farm cash balance statement and farm vouchers. Motion carried, voice vote. The City is in favor of going forward with the sewer extension to Orchard Manor. They plan to meet with the Wepking family to try reaching an agreement for an easement for the recommended sewer extension route. Orchard Manor staff attended another meeting regarding the proposed lighting research project through Johnson Controls. After details of the project were explained more fully, it was revealed researchers would have to be paid out of any grant funding received for the project. This could take up to half of any grant funding awarded. Orchard Manor is not recommending participation in the project at this time. Dwight Nelson made the motion seconded by Dale Hood to decline participation with Johnson Controls on the proposed nursing home lighting project. Motion carried, voice vote. Maintenance reported the air handling system in the DD medication room has been replaced. The WorxHub program is working well and staff is becoming more proficient at using it. A chiller had a leak requiring all the fluid to be drained and repairs made. The air conditioning for the downstairs kitchen will need to have the compressor replaced ($9,000) or the entire unit replaced ($16,000-17,500). Capital funding is running low for 2017. After discussion, the committee told maintenance to go ahead with replacement of the unit before hot weather arrives. If there is a capital repair/replacement shortfall before year-end, the farm account could handle any emergency needs. The 400-wing covered entrance should be completed by the end of the month. There was a leak in the dry sprinkler system in need of repair. Two different sections will need to have pipe replaced. Carol Schwartz and the Committee discussed the following Orchard Manor issues:  The current census is 90 geriatric and 27 intellectually disabled residents.  The facility is still in need of 12 CNAs and two RN/LPN..  The referral bonus is in place. Committee Minutes May 10, 2017 2  The new satellite television system has been installed through TriCom Radio Shack and Dish Network. We are still in the process of reprogramming televisions in resident rooms, but the changeover has been relatively smooth. Dale Hood made a motion seconded by Dwight Nelson to accept the April 2017 Orchard Manor Cash Balance Statements and vouchers as presented. Motion carried, voice vote. Chairman Patcle tentatively set Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. for the next meeting. Dwight Nelson made the motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to adjourn the meeting at 10:41 a.m. Motion carried, voice vote.
