HomeMy WebLinkAboutOM 6 14 17 minutesCommittee Minutes June 14, 2017 1 Orchard Manor/County Farm Committee Meeting Minutes June 14, 2017 Committee Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Chairman Patcle noted a quorum was present and certified the meeting was in compliance with the Open Meetings Law. Committee members present were Dale Hood, Dwight Nelson, Patricia Reynolds, and Robert Scallon. Grant County staff members, Robert Keeney and Carol Schwartz were present. Ron and Terri Abing also attended. Dwight Nelson made the motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to approve the agenda. Motion carried, voice vote. Dale Hood made the motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to approve the May 10, 2017 Orchard Manor and Farm Committee minutes. Motion carried, voice vote. Majestic View reported no current issues. The committee discussed hauling some of the dirt from the building project to the area where the apple orchard is now. Abings said cattle could be moved to accommodate this. Patricia Reynolds made the motion seconded by Dwight Nelson to approve the May 2017 farm cash balance statement and farm vouchers. Motion carried, voice vote. The City has not been able to meet with the Wepking family regarding an easement for the sewer extension. The City does want to move forward with the project, but de tails have not been worked out. The Community Services Building has issues with mopboard coming off in multiple rooms on all floors. Maintenance staff does not have time available for such a time consuming project. Orchard Manor would like the problem referred to Public Property for resolution. Maintenance reported the new air handling system in the DD medication room is working well. The 400-wing project is completed and in use. The engineer needs to complete the final checklist. The air conditioning unit for the downstairs kitchen has been ordered and should arrive in approximately two weeks. There are some issues with the air units in the DD dining room which may need further repairs or replacement. Maintenance is getting estimates for leveling some of the sidewalks so mitigate tripping hazards. Nursing has ordered a new bladder scanner at a cost of approximately $10,000. This includes five years of recalibration. The scanner being replaced can no longer be recalibrated. Carol Schwartz and the Committee discussed the following Orchard Manor issues:  The current census is 91 geriatric and 25 intellectually disabled residents.  The facility is still in need of 12 CNAs and two RN/LPN.  Summer student CNA staff is back.  The referral bonus is in place but not yielding many applicants.  The CNAs will be going through their skills fair training this month.  State surveyors arrived on Monday for the annual ICF/IID survey. They should complete the survey today. The State engineer should arrive this week, also.  Volunteers from the Master Gardeners and the Boy Scouts have helped out with landscaping in the interior courtyards. Orchard Manor appreciates their help very much. Committee Minutes June 14, 2017 2  Family Day will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017. Entertainment and root beer floats will be provided to all in attendance.  A second television has been installed in the geriatric dining room so all may more easily view it. The funding came from the resident donation fund.  The Infection Preventionist attended a conference in Wisconsin Dells.  Four staff are attending the current LEAN training sessions at the administration building.  Orchard Manor purchased and installed a new phone for use by deaf residents. The committee discussed facilities having a daycare facility in their building. Th e opportunity for intergenerational interaction would be a plus for both groups. There are no plans to implement such a program at Orchard Manor at this time, but it is a concept to explore further. Dwight Nelson made a motion seconded by Robert Scallon to accept the May 2017 Orchard Manor Cash Balance Statements and vouchers as presented. Motion carried, voice vote. A tour of the new covered entrance will take place immediately after adjournment. Chairman Patcle tentatively set Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. for the next meeting. Dwight Nelson made the motion seconded by Patricia Reynolds to adjourn the meeting at 11:08 a.m. Motion carried, voice vote. A tour of the new covered entrance will take place immediately after adjournment.
