HomeMy WebLinkAboutHWY Minutes 6-10-10HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING June 10, 2010 The regular monthly meeting of the Grant County Highway Committee was held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Chairman Margaret Ruf called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.. Members present besides the Chairman were Donald Splinter, Mark Stead, Vern Lewison, and Highway Commissioner David Lambert. Pat Schroeder asked to be excused. Also present was County Board Chairman John Patcle and Randy Franks. Donald Splinter, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved that the meeting is in compliance with the open meeting law. Motion carried. Mark Stead, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried. Vern Lewison, seconded by Donald Splinter, moved to approve the minutes of the May 13, 2010 meeting as printed. Motion carried. Donald Splinter, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to pay Vouchers #374 thru #485. Motion carried. David began the Supervisors Reports by discussing the resolution provided by the Wisconsin County Highway Association concerning the transfer of Transportation Funds to the General Fund. Donald Splinter, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to recommend to the full County Board for approval, placing an advisory referendum question on the November ballot - Should the Wisconsin Constitution be amended to prohibit any further transfers or lapses from the segregated transportation fund?. Motion carried. David discussed the need to replace the Platteville Shop and is looking into some alternate sites for relocation of the Platteville Shop. Bob Middendorf joined the Committee at this time. Randy gave an update on County Construction projects including: CTH "F" Stitzer to Hwy 18, CTH "X" - Wyalusing to CTH "P", CTH "C" - Hwy 18 to Millville, and CTH "HHH" - rural portion to Kieler. David gave the report for Jon. Structures will be replaced on Hwy 133 from Boscobel to Hwy 18, and Hwy 35 from Porter bridge to CAssville will be milled and a new surface layed. Under the Machinery & Equipment, Jeannie Morgan joined the Committee to update on Truck /r31 that was involved in the accident on Hwy 151. She handed out a letter offering to settle with Grant County for $50,776.27 -for the property damage claim on the 2010 Peterbilt Patrol Truck. The Committee instructed David to get all the information collected regarding the accident to the Grant County Corporation Counsel for review and opinion. Mark Stead, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to reject the Cottingham and Butler Claims Services, Inc. offer to settle re: the 2010 Peterbilt involved in the recent accident on Hwy 151. Motion carried. Travis Kramer joined the Committee for the' Engineering Report. He discussed the urban portion plans for CTH "HHH" through the Village of Kieler. Concrete Structures of Janesville will be doing the work on the CTH "A" bridges. Applications are due June 25, 2010 for placing the four bridges into the Federal Aid Program. These bridges include the French Bridge on CTH "K", a bridge on Airport Road in Ellenboro Township, bridge on Badger Road in North Lancaster Township, and bridge on River Lane Road in Potosi Township. All are eligible according to the Sufficiency Number Listing received June 1, 2010. Mark Stead, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to adjourn at 10:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
