HomeMy WebLinkAboutHwy Minutes Dec 12HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING December 12, 2013 The regular monthly meeting of the Grant County Highway Committee was held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.. Members present besides the Chairman were Donald Splinter, Mark Stead, Vern Lewison, Grant Loy, and Highway Commissioner David Lambert. Also present was County Board Chairman Larry Wolf and Travis Kramer. Notice of the meeting was sent to the newspaper and radio station and the agenda was posted at the Administration Building and the Highway Office. Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy, moved to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried. Mark Stead, seconded by Donald Splinter, moved to approve the minutes of the November 8, 2013 and November 14, 2013 meetings as printed. Motion carried. Mark Stead, seconded by Donald Splinter, moved to pay Vouchers #1132 thru #1246. Motion carried. David updated the Committee on the progress of the transfer of property on CTH "A". When the checks from both landowners are received, the quit claim deeds will be signed and recorded. Grant County Highway Department submitted a claim to FEMA for flood damage in 2013. The total amount that was spent on flood damage was around $200,000.00. Total costs that David feels are eligible amount to $163,000.00. Some costs are at 50% reimbursement, while most are at 75%. Any amount not approved by FEMA for reimbursement will have to be paid for out of the Highway Budget. For the first ten months of 2013, Grant County is $199,808.66 in the red for the maintenance work that we provided on the State Highway System. Total State requisitions for the first ten months of the year were $1,835,143.96. David reported that the new highway worker position was reviewed and approved at the Executive Committee Meeting on Decebmer 10, 2013. The new position will be a 40 hour per week, full benefits, at $13.73 per hour, with half to be paid by the WisDOT. No CDL will be required. Internal notice of the new position will be sent out next week with interviews set for sometime in January. It was reported that Jon Knautz recently had knee surgery. Both State and County crews have been busy plowing snow. Final material was distributed for the upcoming winter Highway Conference to be held January 13, 14, 15, 2014.
