February 19, 2013
A special meeting of the Grant County Highway Committee was held on Tuesday,
February 19, 2013 in room 266 on the 2nd floor of the Administration Building in
Lancaster, Wisconsin. Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M..
Members present in addition to the Chairman were Mark Stead, Vern Lewison,
Donald Splinter, Grant Loy, and Highway Commissioner David Lambert. Also present
was County Board Chairman Larry Wolf, County Board Supervisors Robert Keeney and
Dwight Nelson, Jeannie Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, Jeff Kindrai, and David Timmerman.
David Lambert stated that notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the
agenda was posted at the Highway Office and in the Administration Building.
Vern Lewison, seconded by Grant Loy, moved to approve the agenda as printed.
Motion carried.
Donald Splinter, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to purchase two Freightliner
single axle chassis from Truck Country of Dubuque with Plan 1 warranty for
$90,907.00 each. (Truck $89,307.00 plus $1,600.00 additional for warranty)
Motion carried.
Donald Splinter, seconded by Grant Loy, moved to purchase a single axle dump
body, tailgate spreader, 12' snow plow, 91right side wing, and electrical controls
for each of the new Freightliners at a cost of $67,335.00 per truck from Burke
Truck & Equipment in Madison. _Motion carried.
There was a request for additional office help and discussion on number of
hours to be worked, pay, and expertise needed.
Grant Loy, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to hire Anita Kelley as on office
consultant for the Highway Department for up to 20 hours per week at $18.84 per
hour for a temporary period. Motion carried.
The Highway Commissioner handed out a copy of the proposed Grant County
All -Terrain Vehicle Route Ordinance to each Committee member for informational
purposes and review.
Mark Stead, seconded by Vern Lewison, moved to adjourn to Thursday,
March 14, 2013 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
