HomeMy WebLinkAboutJune Highway Committee MinutesHIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING June 8, 2017 The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Chairman Donald Splinter called the meeting to order. Other members present were John Patcle, Lester Jantzen, Mark Stead, Grant Loy, and Highway Commissioner David Lambert. Also present was County Board Chairman Robert Keeney, Judy Hazen, and Mike Whitaker. Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the Administration Building and Highway Office. Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2017 and May 31, 2017 meetings as printed. Motion carried. Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by John Patcle, to approve the payment of Vouchers #329 thru #452. Motion carried. David reported that there are eleven ATV - UTV Routes that have been previously recommended for approval by the Highway Committee, pending approval by the Traffic Safety Committee. The Traffic Safety Committee met on May 17, 2017 and does not feel comfortable recommending any additional ATV - UTV Routes. Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve and send on to the full County Board, the following eleven ATV - UTV Route requests, without Traffic Safety Committee approval: CTH "0" extending east from Big Platte Road to Elm Road, CTH "U" extending from Dutch Hollow Road to Reynolds Ridge Road, CTH "J" extending from Brookens Road to Wilson Hill Road, CTH "I" extending north from a point 50 feet north of Hwy 80 to Badger Hollow Road, CTH "Q" extending east from Cedar Rock Road to CTH "G", CTH "G" extending north from CTH "Q" to Shemak Road, CTH "B" extending east from Platte Road to Stanton Road, CTH "B" extending east from Stanton Road to Whig Road, CTH "E" extending east from Old Highway 80 to Barber Avenue within the Village of Livingston, CTH "J" extending east from 5th Street to Hwy 18 within the Village of Mt. Hope, CTH "J" extending north from Brookens Road to Wilson Hill Road. Motion carried. Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Donald Splinter, to approve the grading project at the Woodman Boat Landing and that payment for the work be taken out of last year's Access Carryover Account. Motion carried. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the restroom roof replacement projects at the Wyalusing and Millville Boat Landings. The cost of the project is $990.44 and Roger Herbers from Woodman will do the work. The money will come out of the River Access Account and was recommended for approval by the County Clerk. Motion carried. For the first four months of 2017, Grant County is under budget $105,974.00 for the maintenance work that we provide on the State Highway System. Grading continues on the Hwy 61 construction project. County crews have`been working on CTH "A", CTH "0", and mowing roadsides. The two new tandem axle patrol trucks and new tractor ordered, should be arriving in June. Joe Tesar has accepted the vacant Patrolman position and will start on June 12, 2017. Steve Retallick has accepted the General Laborer position and will start on June 19, 2017.
