HomeMy WebLinkAboutGrantCoHwyminutes08-15-18GRANT COUNTY QUARTERLY TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING August 15, 2018 Conference Room, Grant County Law Enforcement Center Lancaster, WI 53813 The regular quarterly Grant County Traffic Safety Commission Meeting was called to order by Captain Tony Sheckles at 1:00 p.m. The following Traffic Safety Commission members and guests present: Bob Keeney--------------------------------------------------------------------------------County Board Chairman Judy Hazen-----------------------------------------------------------------------Ridge Runners of Grant County Justin McLimans----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Lancaster PD Brian Bierman----------------------------------------------------------------------Grant County Sheriff’s Office Nate Dreckman-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Grant County Sheriff Luke Yahn------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------DSP Joe Schneider--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WI-DOT Rick Olig-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WI-DOT/BOTS Travis Kramer----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Citizen Confirmation of Open Meeting Law: The agenda was posted in the lobby at the Sheriff’s Office, the County Clerk’s Office and on the Grant County website. Adoption of Agenda: The agenda was approved in motions by Bob and second by Brian. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved in motions by Brian and second by Judy. Motions carried. New Business: It is requested that the speed limit be lowered from 55 to 45 and painted arrows indicating turn lanes on STH 80 at Guler’s Corners between Hazel Green and Cuba City. A speed study was completed and there will be no speed limit change. The state will discuss the request for the painted arrows indicating turn lanes. There is a redesign project at this intersection that will begin in 2021. East of this intersection there is an area that was changed from a no passing zone to a passing zone. There are a lot of farmers that travel in th is area. A site distance signed will be considered by the state. The Village of Cassville is requesting a speed limit change on VV towards Wyota Street. The speed limit is currently 55 mph and ATV/UTV’s travel this road often. A speed study will be done on the road between Beetown and Cassville. Old Business: Brad Byom was not present to discuss current and completed speed studies. Citizen Complaints: There are no citizen complaints to discuss at this time. The county statistics were passed out and discussed. Captain Sheckles will start tracking citations and accidents that involve ATV/UTV’s for the next meeting. That state statistics were passed out and discussed. The state updated the committee on projects that are being done. Other Business: No Other Business to discuss at this time. The next meeting date will be on Wednesday, November 21 at 1:00 p.m. It was motioned by Luke and seconded by Nate to adjourn. Motion carried.
