HomeMy WebLinkAboutHighway Committee Minutes June 14 2018HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING June 14, 2018 The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order. Other members present were Donald Splinter, Lester Jantzen, Mark Stead, Dwight Nelson, and Highway Commissioner David Lambert. Also present was County Board Chairman Robert Keeney, and Information Technology Director Shane Drinkwater. Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the Administration Building and Highway Office. Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by.Dwight Nelson, to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried. Motion by .Mark Stead, seconded by Donald Splinter, to approve the minutes of the May 10, 2018 meeting as printed. Motion carried. Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to accept the May Highway Accounts Payable Report as reviewed by the Committee. Motion carried. For the first four months of 2018, Grant County is over the RMA budget by $328.00 for the maintenance work that we provide on the State Highway System. Donna Bohnenkamp joined the Committee to discuss an item brought up in the Auditor's Report. A bridge was replaced in the Town of Hickory Grove at a cost of over $300,000.00. The Town still owes the County $106,000.00 for the project. The Town has received an invoice from the County for the $106,000.00. David said it is not unusual for the County to wait for payment, sometimes over several years depending on if we're dealing with Federal, State, or Local Governments. David discussed lowering the speed limit on CTH "H" from 55 to 45 mph. for safety concerns. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to lower the speed limit from 55 to 45 mph on CTH "H", extending from US 151 east past the CTH "HHH" intersection over the crest of the hill to a propert line extending to the north, a distance of 0.78 miles. Motion carried. The new roof project on the salt storage shed at the old FS property has been completed. State crews have been busy crack filling and cleaning ditches. County crews have been cleaning up storm damage. CTH "V" has been pulverized from North Andover west to CTH "VV" and the County is currently laying the new asphalt mat for the project. Jason Pickett ran a County Patrol Section out of the Boscobel Shop and has taken a position with James Construction. Three applicants for the position will be interviewed on June 19, 2018. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to adjourn at 9:47 A.M. to Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. for employment interviews. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Mark A.
