HomeMy WebLinkAboutHighway Minutes-Nov 8 2018HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING November 8, 2018 The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order. Other members present were Lester Jantzen, Mark Stead, Dwight Nelson, Donald Splinter, and Highway Commissioner David Lambert. Also present was County Board Chairman Robert Keeney. Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the amended agenda was posted at the Administration Building and Highway Office. Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve the amended agenda as printed. Motion carried. Motion by Dwight Nelson, seconded by Donald Splinter, to approve the minutes of the October 11, 2018 meeting as printed. Motion carried. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to accept the October Accounts Payable Report as reviewed by the Committee. Motion carried. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Donald Splinter, to approve and sign the following Resolutions for 2019: County Construction And Maintenance During The Calendar Year 2019. County Aid Bridge Construction Under Section 82.08 Of The Wisconsin State Statutes - County of Grant. County Aid Construction Under Section 83.14 Of The Statutes County of Grant - Towns. County Aid Construction Under Section 83.14 Of The Statutes County of Grant - Villages. Resolution Regarding County Road Aid For The Cities - County of Grant. Motion carried. Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve and sign the 2019 State Routine Maintenance Agreement with the WisDOT. Motion carried. Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to recommend to the full County Board for approval, an Ordinance to amend Chapter 268 entitled Vehicles, All -Terrain and Utility -Terrain, of the Grant County Code. Motion carried. Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to go out for bids on two new single axle Section Patrol Trucks. Motion carried. For the first nine months of 2018, Grant County is over the RMA budget by $81,376.00 with $1,793,758.00 being spent on State Highways in Grant County thru the end of September. State crews are working on replacing a culvert under Hwy 61 between Yoder's and the Midway, and also repairing beam guard damaged by an accident on Hwy 61 at British Hollow. County crews are busy putting up snow fence and getting winter equipment ready. Steel for the new salt shed has been ordered and beams have been fabricated but not yet galvanized. David informed the Committee that there could be a couple more employees retiring before the end of the year.
