June 13, 2019
The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday,
June 13, 2019 at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.. Other members
present were Mark Stead, Dwight Nelson, Donald Splinter, Lester Jantzen, and Highway
Commissioner David Lambert. Also present was County Board Chairman Robert Keeney,
Kelvin Riemenapp, and Kevin Riemenapp. Larry Kirschbaum and Travis Kramer joined
the Committee after the meeting had started.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the
Administration Building and Highway Office.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve the agenda as
printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Dwight Nelson, seconded by Mark Stead, to approve the minutes of the
May 9, 2019 meeting as printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to accept the May Highway
Accounts Payable Report as reviewed by the Committee. Motion carried.
The bids to replace the roof on the Dickeyville salt storage building were
opened:
Bel -Aire Roofing, Platteville, WI $59,387.00
Midwest Roofing, Dodgeville, WI $48,600.00
G & V Construction, Farmington, MN $112,800.00
All Pro, Montfort, WI $67,780.00
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to accept the low bid from
Midwest Roofing to replace the roof on the Dickeyville salt storage building as long
as the bid meets all specifications. Motion carried.
For the first four months of 2019, Grant County is over the RMA budget by
$248,492.00, with $1,093,860.00 being spent on the State Highway System in Grant
County so far this year.
The Committee discussed the property owned by Adam Kramer near Patch Grove,
and the State Highway issues regarding access to the property.
County crews are busy mowing, spraying weeds, and shouldering roads.
State crews are shouldering roads and working on a crack fill project between
Potosi and Dickeyville.
Travis and David discussed the proposed STP-Rural Program and Local Bridge
Program. Travis presented the Committee with a handout of County Highway Improvement
Project listings, timetables, costs, and funding.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to adjourn at 10:02 A.M. to
Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
