January 10, 2019
The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday,
January 10, 2019 at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.. Other members
present were Lester Jantzen, Mark Stead, Dwight Nelson, Donald Splinter, and Highway
Commissioner David Lambert. Also present was County Board Chairman Robert Keeney,
Faber Runde, John Dalsing, Jon Knautz, Mick Whitaker, Leah Rhodes, and Dan Wagner.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the
Administration Building and Highway Office.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the agenda
as printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve the minutes of the
December 13, 2018 and December 21, 2018 meetings as printed. Motion carried.
Motion.by Donald Splinter, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to accept the December
Accounts Payable Report as reviewed by the Committee. Motion carried.
Leah Rhodes and Dan Wagner addressed the Committee briefly as they expressed
thanks and appreciation for the work that their firm, MSA Professional Services,
has done in Grant County in the past.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to select IIW, P.C., as
the Design Engineering.Consultant for the Jimtown Road Bridge project in the
Town of Jamestown. Motion carried.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to select Ayres & Associates
as the Design Engineering Consultant for the Borah Road Bridge project in the Town
of North Lancaster. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to select MSA Professional
Services, Inc. as the Design Engineering Consultant for the Brewery Hollow Road
Bridge project in the Village of Potosi. Motion carried. Dwight Nelson abstained
from voting.
With December being estimated through 12/25/18, Grant County is under the
RMA budget by $102,010.00 for the work Grant County provides on the State Highway
System. With the additional dollars left in the 2018 RMA budget, the State may
prepay for hot mix asphalt that will be used on the State System next season.
Jon handed out copies of the WisDOT Final Annual Winter Maintenance Report
for 2017 - 2018. State crews have been busy cutting brush and patching roads.
County crews have been busy cutting brush, patching, and keeping the trucks
ready for the next storm event.
David said that Roger Schauff and Larry Ploessl have given their two week
notice as they both plan to retire.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to adjourn at 9:48 A.M.
to Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
