May 9, 2019
The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday,
May 9, 2019 at the Highway Office in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
Chairman John Patcle called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.. Other members
present were Mark Stead, Dwight Nelson, Donald Splinter, Lester Jantzen; and Highway
Commissioner David Lambert. Also present was County Board Chairman Robert Keeney.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the amended agenda was posted
at the Administration Building and Highway Office.
Motion by Dwight Nelson, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the amended
agenda as printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to approve the minutes of
the April 11, 2019 and April 15, 2019 meetings as printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to accept the April Highway
Accounts Payable Report as reviewed by the Committee. Motion carried.
For the first three months of 2019, Grant County is over the RMA budget by
$378,692,00.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to get bids for a new
roof on the salt storage building at Dickeyville. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve an offer of
$60,000.00 for a 3 acre parcel of land near Patch Grove as long as the Wisconsin
DOT will allow access to the property. Motion carried.
The Committee discussed the CTH "A"/STH 80 intersection at Arthur. Grant
County will install larger "Stop Ahead" signs on CTH "A", two in both directions,
one on each side of the road with orange flags. The County will wait for
instructions on the stop signs from the WisDOT.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Donald Splinter, to approve and send
on to the Executive Committee for approval, a clothing allowance of $130.00 per
year for Highway employees that are required to wear safety shoes. Motion carried.
State crews have been washing bridges and fixing guard rail.
County crews have been crack filling Mound CTH "B", taking winter equipment
off the trucks, grade work on CTH "A" west of Lancaster, and guard rail repair.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve and send on
to the Executive Committee for approval, a wage of $15.81 per hour for Terry
McCartney as Team Leader working on the boat landings this summer. Motion carried
Ben Walljasper from Enterprise Fleet Management, joined the Committee and
gave a presentation on a Pickup Truck Lease Program.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to adjourn at 10:48 A.M.
to Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
