April 9, 2020
The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors held their
meeting on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at 9:00 A.M. via a Zoom Meeting due to the
COVID-19 Pandemic.
Those attending in -person at the Highway Office were Mark Stead, Da4id Lambert,
Mike Bartels, and Travis Kramer. Those attending via Zoom were John Patcle, Donald
Splinter, Dwight Nelson, Lester Jantzen, and Robert Keeney.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the
Administration Building and Highway Office.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve the agenda as
printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to approve the minutes of the
March 12, 2020 meeting as printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Mark Stead, to accept the March Highway
Accounts Payable Report as reviewed by the Committee. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Donald Splinter, to accept the low bid from
Iverson Construction for Hot Mix Asphalt at $51.95/ton for upper coarse, $51.10/tan
for lower coarse, and $54.80/ton for skinny mix. Motion carried.
Mike Bartels explained the differences in the Loader bids received and his
recommendation for each type.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to accept the low bid from
Fabick in Madison for a 2020 Caterpillar 95OGC Rubber Tire Wheel Loader for a price
of $190,441.56. The price includes the cost of electronic service, parts manuals,
and a four year extended warranty. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Donald Splinter, to accept the low bid
from Ritchie Implement for a 2020 Bobcat T76 (P69 & C68) Tracked Compact Loader
at $59,462.76. Motion carried with one negative vote.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to accept the bid from
K & L Bobcat in Darlington for a 2020 Bobcat S76 (P69 & C52) Rubber Tire Skid
Steer Loader. The price w/trade in of our current Bobcat 5250 is $30,479.11.
Motion carried with one negative vote.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to adjourn at 9:21 A.M. to
Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
