March 16, 2021
A special meeting of the Grant County Highway Committee was held on Tuesday,
March 16, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in the County Board Room of the Grant County
Administration Building.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Donald Splinter. Other members
present were Mark Stead, Lester Jantzen, Dwight Nelson, and John Patcle. County
Board Chairman Robert Keeney, Personnel Director Joyce Ruling, State Highway Patrol
Superintendent Jon Knautz, and Highway Engineer Travis Kramer were also in
attendance.
Notice of the meeting was properly posted at the Administration Building
and Highway Office.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by John Patcle, to approve the agenda
as printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to enter into closed session
per State Statute 19.85 (1)(c) considering employment, promotion, compensation or
performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental
body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility as it relates to interviewing
candidates to fill the State Patrol Supervisor Position. A roll call vote was
taken with Jantzen, Nelson, Stead, Patcle, and Splinter all voting yes. Motion
carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to come out of closed
session and return to open session. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by John Patcle, to offer the State Highway
Patrol Supervisor Position to Candidate Choice one and that if they decline the
position to offer it to Candidate Choice two. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Donald Splinter, to adjourn at 3:34 P.M.
to Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
