August 2, 2021
A special meeting of the Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of
Supervisors was held at 8:00 A.M. on Monday, August 2, 2021 in the County Board
Room of the Administration Building in Lancaster, Wisconsin and via Zoom.
Attending the meeting in person were Donald Splinter, John Patcle, Mark Stead,
Lester Jantzen, Dwight Nelson, Highway Commissioner Jan Knautz, State Highway
Superintendent Dan McLimans, County Board Chairman Robert Keeney, Personnel Director
Joyce Roling, and IT Director Shane Drinkwater. County Highway Superintendent
Larry Kirschbaum joined the meeting at 8:03 A.M..
Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the
Administration Building and Highway Office
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by John Patcle, to approve the agenda as
printed. Motion carried.
Jon discussed the two quotes he received for a new concrete saw. One was from
Farrell Equipment in the amount of $34,032.00 and the second was from Gierke Robinson
Company in the amount of $33,837.00.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by John Patcle, to purchase a Husqvarna FS5000D
concrete saw from Gierke Robinson Company for $33,837.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to enter into closed session
per Wisconsin State Statute 19.85 (1)(c) considering employment, promotion,
compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the
governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility to conduct employment
interviews - Section Patrolman Interviews. A roll call vote was taken with Patcle,
Stead, Jantzen, Nelson, and Splinter all voting yes. Motion carried.
Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to come out of closed session
and return to open session. Motion carried.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to offer the State Section 6
Patrol Worker position to candidate choice one and to offer the County Section 20
Patrol Worker position to candidate choice two. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by John Patcle, to adjourn at 9:27 A.M. to
Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
