November 4, 2021
The Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday,
November 4, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in the County Board Room of the Administration Building
in Lancaster, Wisconsin and via Zoom.
Attending the meeting in person were Donald Splinter, Mark Stead, Dwight Nelson,
Lester Jantzen, Highway Commissioner Jon Knautz, County Board Chairman Robert Keeney,
Dan McLimans, Travis Kramer, and IT Director Shane Drinkwater. John Patcle asked to
be excused. Attending via Zoom were Amanda Degenhardt, Tonya White, and a UWP student
by the name of Adam.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the
Administration Building and Highway Office.
Motion by Dwight Nelson, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the agenda as
printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the minutes of the
October 14, 2021 meeting as printed. Motion carried.
Motion by Donald Splinter, seconded by Mark Stead, to accept the October Highway
Accounts Payable Report as reviewed by the Committee. Motion carried.
For the first nine months of 2021, Grant County is over the estimated RMA
budget by $285,500.16.
County crews have been putting up snow fence, delivering salt where needed, and
doing repairs to the Bloomington salt shed.
State crews have finished the bridge approach work for the State, and getting
the,br_ize truck ready, and plows, wings on the trucks as time allows.
The two Western Star Patrol Trucks and snow equipment have been ordered. We
are still waiting the arrival of the two 2020 trucks that are currently having the
snow equipment installed at Burke in Madison.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve and sign the
2022 Resolution regarding County Aid Bridge Construction Under Section 82.08 Of The
Wisconsin State Statutes - County Of Grant. Motion carried.
The application for the CTH"H" project has been approved by the WisDOT. The
engineering contract with Jewell Associates has been approved and signed.
Construction is to begin in 2023.
Jon informed the Committee that Ned Witzig has taken the welder position and
that Jacob Oschelle has taken Ned's position as a excavator operator.
All highway employees will participate in various safety training scheduled
for November 5th.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to adjourn at 1:38 P.M. to
Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
