December 2, 2021
A special meeting of the Highway Committee of the Grant County Board of
Supervisors was held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 in Room 264 of
the Administration Building in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
Attending the meeting in person were Donald Splinter, John Patcle, Mark Stead,
Lester Jantzen, Dwight Nelson, Highway Commissioner Jon Knautz, Dan McLimans, Joyce
Roling, Robert Keeney, and Shane Drinkwater. Larry Kirschbaum joined the Committee
in closed session.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the media and the agenda was posted at the
Administration Building and Highway Office.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Mark.Stead, to approve the agenda as
printed. Motion carried.
Jon told the Committee that it would cost about $3100.00 for the equipment
needed to conduct zoom meetings at the Highway Office compared to continuing to
hold the meetings in the County Board room. Robert said that it could be April
2022 before the County ended the Declaration of Emergency due to Covid that it has
been operating under for the last year and a half. The Committee took no action
on this agenda item.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by John Patcle, to enter into closed session
per State Statute 19.85 (1)(c) considering employment, promotion, compensation or
performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body
has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility as it relates to interviewing candidates
to fill the Vacant - Cassville County Patrolman Position. A roll call vote was
taken with Splinter, Jantzen, Nelson, Patcle, and Stead all voting yes. Motion
carried. The time was 10:41 A.M..
At 12:00 P.M., a motion was made by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Dwight Nelson,
to came out of closed session and return to open session. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dwight Nelson, to offer the Cassville County
Patrolman Position to Candidate choice one and that if they decline the position to
offer it to Candidate choice two. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to adjourn at 12:01 P.M. to
Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 9:00 A.M.. Motion carried.
