HomeMy WebLinkAbout05 Agenda May minutesHIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING May 12, 2022 The Highway Committee met on Thursday May 12, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. in the County Board Room of the Administration Building in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by County Board Chair Robert Keeney. Roll call was taken. Members present: Roger Guthrie, Diane Nelson, Gary Northouse, Pat Schroeder (By zoom) and Donald Splinter. Others in attendance were Travis Kramer, Dan McLimans, Steve Morgan, Mike Bartels, Donna Bohnenkamp, Shane Drinkwater, Tonya White and Amanda Degenhardt. Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Gary Northouse, seconded by Roger Guthrie, moved to approve the agenda. Motion carried without a negative vote. Election of Officers: County Board Chair, Robert Keeney asked for nominations for a Highway Committee Chair. Diane Nelson nominated Donald Splinter for Chair. Robert Keeney asked three times for nominations. Gary Northouse, seconded by Roger Guthrie moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Donald Splinter. Motion carried without a negative vote. County Board Chair, Robert Keeney asked for nominations for a Highway Committee Vice -Chair. Roger Guthrie nominated Gary Northouse for Vice -Chair. Robert Keeney asked three times for nominations. Donald Splinter, seconded by Roger Guthrie moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Gary Northouse. Motion carried without a negative vote. County Board Chair, Robert Keeney asked for nominations for a Highway Committee Secretary. Roger Guthrie nominated Diane Nelson for Secretary. Robert Keeney asked three times for nominations. Donald Splinter, seconded by Gary Northouse moved to close nominations and cast a unanimous ballot for Diane Nelson Motion carried without a negative vote. The meeting was then turned over to Donald Splinter. Donald Splinter, seconded by Roger Guthrie, made a motion to approve the April 14th, 2022 Highway meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote. Gary Northouse, seconded by Roger Guthrie moved to approve the April Accounts Payable report as reviewed. Motion carried without a negative vote. The March Requisition was sent to the State for $171,129.64; $5,620.87 over our monthly estimate. County crews have been working on CTH "O" prepping for pulverization later this summer, when contractor is available. State crews have been working on bridge washing, including the underside of the IA -WI bridge. The Highway shop is busy getting the equipment ready for mowing and prepping the paving equipment for the season. Mike also updated the committee on the sale of the D6T dozer. In the purchase contract with Fabic Cat, we had the option to sell the D6T outright, or accept $285,000 from Fabic for trade. Mike put the D6T on the Wisconsin Surplus website where the D6T sold for $307,500, $22,500.00 more than was offered for trade. There are currently 3 vacancies at the Highway Department, interviews are scheduled for May 18, 2022. Spreadsheets are currently being created for the RT Vision Timekeeping implementation, no implementation date has been set. Gary Northouse, seconded by Diane Nelson moved to adjourn to June 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Motion carried without a negative vote.
