December 15, 2022
The Highway Committee met on Thursday December 15, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at the County
Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Donald Splinter. Roll call was taken. Members
present: Roger Guthrie, Diane Nelson, Gary Northouse, Pat Schroeder, and Donald
Splinter. Others present were Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Dan McLimans, Steve Morgan,
Travis Kramer, Donna Bohnenkamp, Mike Bartels. Via Zoom were Tonya White, Joyce
Roling, Gary Pluemer, and Shane Drinkwater.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted
at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site.
Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson, made a motion to approve the agenda as
printed. Motion carried without a negative vote.
Pat Schroeder, seconded by Diane Nelson, made a motion to approve the November 15th
and 17 th 2022 Highway meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote.
Gary Northouse, seconded by Pat Schroeder moved to approve the Accounts Payable report
as reviewed. Motion carried without a negative vote.
The October Requisition was sent to the State for $185,300.61; $53,134.24 over our yearly
state budgeted amount.
Donna Gave an update on the RT Vision training.
State crews have had their sanders calibrated, and are busy cutting brush. Dan
introduced the County's State Maintenance Representative, Pete Pomerening, who replaced
Eric Glindinning.
Concrete blocks have been set in place on CTH 0. The County patrol men are putting up
and fusing snow fence, and the last of the County Salt has been delivered.
The new bushhog is in, and both Chassis' are completed and have been sent to Burke for
installation of the snow equipment.
Donnie Splinter, seconded by Gary Northouse made a motion to assign the $226,454.72
undesignated revenues from 2021 to the Federal Aid Secondary account. Motion carried
without a negative vote.
Jon informed the committee of an employee that is retiring in December, and the
replacement will start December 27th.
Roger Guthrie, seconded by Gary Northouse, made a motion to adjourn to January 19,
2023, at 9:00 a.m. at the Highway Department in Lancaster. Motion carried without a
negative vote.
