HomeMy WebLinkAbout08 Minutes-August 10 2023 (2)HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING August 10, 2023 The Highway Committee met on Thursday August 10, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Chair Donald Splinter. Roll call was taken, members present were: Gary Northouse, Diane Nelson, and Roger Guthrie. Pat Schroeder ask to be excused. Others present were Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Dan McLimans, Steve Morgan, Mike Bartels, Donna Bohnenkamp and a representative from Truck Country. Jesse Klein and Tonya White attended by Zoom. Representatives from Edward Kramer & Sons, Inc., Brennan Construction, Radke Construction and Lunda Construction were present for the bid openings. Notice of the Highway meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Gary Northouse, seconded by Diane Nelson, made a motion to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried without a negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson, made a motion to approve the July 20th Highway meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote. Gary Northouse, seconded by Roger Guthrie moved to approve the Accounts Payables as reported. Motion carried without a negative vote. The June Requisition was sent to the State for $84,925.22 under the average monthly estimate by $82,887.28. Through June, we are over our estimated monthly budgeted amount by $216.099.63. Tom Shields with Truck Country introduced himself to the committee, he gave an update on the current Western Star and Freightliner Trucks that are available. Jon asked to get quotes for a new power washer and a new pickup. They will be reviewed on Tuesday August 15th at 9:30 am. It was also requested to go out for bids on two new tandem section trucks. Donnie Splinter, seconded by Gary Northouse made a motion to go out for bids on two new tandem patrol trucks. Motion Carried without a negative vote. Jon discussed adding (wedges) brine tanks to the two new patrol trucks. Donnie Splinter, seconded by Diane Nelson made a motion to install the wedges in the two new patrol trucks. Motion carried without a negative vote. Dan McLimans informed the Committee the State crews have been working concrete repairs on Hwy 61 and Hwy 151. With the heat and humidity, they have been dealing with concrete heaving as well. Travis opened construction bids for Bridge B-0297, Whitish Bridge on CTH "T." After review of the bids, Gary Northouse, seconded by Roger Guthrie made a motion to accept the low bid from Radke Construction for $405,117.17. Motion carried without a negative vote. Bridge will be constructed in the fall.
