SPECIAL HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING
October 3, 2023
The Highway Committee met on Tuesday October 3, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at the County
Administration Building in Lancaster.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Donald Splinter. Roll call was taken, members
present were: Gary Northouse, Diane Nelson, Pat Schroeder and Roger Guthrie. Others
present were Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Joe Mumm, and Mike Bartels.
Notice of the Highway meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration
Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site.
Pat Schroeder, seconded by Roger Guthrie, made a motion to approve the agenda as
printed. Motion carried without a negative vote.
Jon updated the committee on information he collected between the Cummins and the
Detroit engines.
Roger Guthrie, seconded by Gary Northouse, made a motion to award the Chassis bid to
Truck Country for 2-2025 Western Stars ($312,582), with Cummins engines. Motion
carried without a negative vote.
Pat Schroeder, seconded by Gary Northouse moved to award the snow equipment bid to
Burke Equipment. Motion carried without a negative vote. Motion Carried.
Roger Guthrie, seconded by Pat Schroeder, made a motion to adjourn to Tuesday October
19, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at the Highway Department in Lancaster. Motion carried without a
negative vote.
