HomeMy WebLinkAbout01 Minutes-January 18 2024 HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING January 18, 2024 The Highway Committee met on Thursday January 18, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Chair Donald Splinter. Other members present were, Gary Northouse, Diane Nelson Pat Schroeder and Roger Guthrie. Others present were Bob Keeney, Mike Bartels, Steve Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, and Travis Kramer. Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Diane Nelson, made a motion to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried without a negative vote. Gary Northouse, seconded by Roger Guthrie, made a motion to approve the December 21st, Highway meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson moved to approve the Accounts Payables as reported. Motion carried without a negative vote. The November Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $122,905.52, this was under the November five-year monthly average by $19,175.73. Through November, we are over our estimated monthly budget by $160,427.49. The November County accounts were also reviewed. State crews have been out a number of times cleaning up after the snow. There was a large accident on Hwy 151 near Dickeyville that damaged a bridge, state crews have been busy repairing the damage. County crews have been out a number of times cleaning up after the snow. They have been cutting brush on CTH T, and have been hauling winter chips. Mechanics have been doing a great job keeping the trucks on the road, especially the spares. Travis informed the committee the bridge inspections have been completed, but need to be entered into the State System. Pat Schroeder made a motion, seconded by Gary Northouse to purchase a 3500 Chevy Silverado crew cab pickup from Les Mack for $53,585.00 Motion Carried. Highway Department is fully staffed, but expects retirements in the near future. Gary Northouse, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to adjourn to Thursday February 15, 2024.
