HomeMy WebLinkAbout02 Minutes-February 15 2024 HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING February 15, 2024 The Highway Committee met on Thursday February 15, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Chair Donald Splinter. Other members present were, Gary Northouse, Diane Nelson Pat Schroeder and Roger Guthrie. Others present were Bob Keeney, Steve Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, Dan McLimans, Travis Kramer, Garry Pluemer, Lauren Ray, and Mark Fassbinder. Tonya White joined by zoom. Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Diane Nelson, made a motion to approve the agenda with the mentioned changes. Motion carried without a negative vote. Diane Nelson, seconded by Roger Guthrie, made a motion to approve the January 18th Highway meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote. Gary Northouse, seconded by Pat Schroeder moved to approve the Accounts Payables as reported. Motion carried without a negative vote. There have been two recent retirements in the shop, discussion followed as to how to proceed with the vacancies. Lauren Ray and Mark Fassbinder with Origins presented the review of the County Highway buildings conditions and life. The December Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $200,372.57, this included a DMA for $43,704.12. As of December, we are over our estimated budget by $105,372.68. The December County accounts were also reviewed. State crews have been out patching roads and cutting trees. They have also been repairing the divots left by the wings, and repairing the bridge on Hwy 151 damaged by an accident. County crews have been cutting brush and cleaning right of ways. The men have also been hauling seal coating chips from Pattison Sand. Mechanics have been doing a great job keeping the shop running smoothly. Travis informed the committee on the 6’ – 20’ bridge inspection program. Jon gave an update on the equipment. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Gary Northouse made a motion to have Grant County Truck Bodies put heavy duty boxes on the two new pickups. Motion carried without negative vote.
