HomeMy WebLinkAbout05 Minutes-May 16 2024 HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING May 16, 2024 The Highway Committee met on Thursday May16, 2024 at 9:00 am, at the County Highway Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Chair Gary Northouse. Other members present were, Lester Jantzen, Diane Nelson Pat Schroeder and Roger Guthrie. Others present were Bob Keeney, Jon Knautz, Steve Morgan, Donna Bohnenkamp, Travis Kramer, and Jason Kieler. Tonya White and Chris Peacock joined by zoom. Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the Highway Department and on the Grant County web site. Diane Nelson, seconded by Lester Jantzen, moved to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried without a negative vote. Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to approve the April16th & April 18th Highway meeting minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen moved to approve the Accounts Payables as reported. Motion carried without a negative vote. The March Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $149,387.46, As of March, we are over our estimated budget by $15,278.33. The March County accounts were also reviewed. State crews have been patching pot holes, spraying growth inhibitor, and pulling shoulders. They have also finished cleaning bridges on the State system. County crews have been washing county bridges, doing erosion control on CTH “N” for the DNR, started paving on CTH “T”, and have done work on the Tower sites. The shop has been prepping the construction equipment. Jason and Steve will work on the truck specs that will go out shortly. Travis informed the committee they will address the storm sewers while redoing CTH “H”. Frontage Road funding has been approved. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen moved to convene into closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. sec 19.85 (1)(e) for the purpose of deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conduction other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session regarding the purchase of a property. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Gary Northouse made a motion to return to open session. Motion carried. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen authorized Jon to move forward with negotiations. Motion carried. Jon informed the committee we would like to open quotes for two single axle patrol trucks and snow equipment at the next meeting. Jon shared information he received regarding damage to roads caused by horse and buggies. Options were discussed. Summer Road School Conference was discussed. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to adjourn to Thursday June 20, 2024, at 9:00 am. Motion Carried without a negative vote. Diane Nelson Secretary Donna Bohnenkamp Recorder
