October 17, 2024
The Highway Committee met on Thursday October 17, 2024 at 9:00 am, at the County Highway
Department in Lancaster, the meeting was also available via Zoom.
The meeting was called to order by Chair Gary Northouse. Other members present were, Lester
Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, Diane Nelson and Roger Guthrie. Others present were Bob Keeney, Jon
Knautz, Nate Dreckman, Steve Morgan, Trenton Wood, Dan McLimans, Jason Kieler, and Garry
Pluemer. Travis Kramer joined the meeting at 9:45 am. Tonya White and Donna Bohnenkamp joined
by zoom.
Notice of the meeting was sent to the Herald Independent, Administration Building, posted at the
Highway Department and on the Grant County web site.
Lester Jantzen, seconded by Pat Schroeder, moved to approve the October agenda. Motion carried
without a negative vote.
Roger Guthrie, seconded by Diane Nelson, moved to approve the September 19th Highway meeting
minutes. Motion carried without a negative vote.
Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen moved to approve the Accounts Payables and YTD Budget
Report. Motion carried without a negative vote.
The August Requisition has been sent to the State DOT for $132,565.70. As of the end of August, we
are under our yearly estimated budgeted amount by $56,161.87.
The County Accounts were reviewed as of the end of September.
The brine silo has been installed at the Patch Grove Shop. State crews have been ditching and
mowing, they are also working on a LFA (Local Force Account) for the State.
The County crews are paving and mowing. They are also working on guardrail on CTH “O.”
The Shop Lead worker is getting the truck filters ready for the winter season. The shop is geared up
and preparing trucks for winter.
Travis informed the committee there would be an PIM (Public Involvement Meeting) for the CTH “D”
project from Hwy 81 – CTH “A” in November. The Committee opened the bid for the CTH “H/HHH”
Frontage Road. The only bid came from Iverson Construction. Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester
Jantzen moved to accept the bid from Iverson Construction for the CTH “H/HHH” Project. Motion
carried without a negative vote.
Giese Roofing from Dubuque IA, repaired the leak in the main shop. The repair is supposed to last
roughly 5 years.
Bloomington Township has made a Commercial Offer to Purchase our Bloomington Shop. It has been
signed by both the County and the Township. Closing date is November 15th.
Trenton Wood, the new County Supervisor, was introduced to the Committee. We now have a
Patrolman position open.
Diane Nelson, seconded by Lester Jantzen, moved to adjourn to Thursday November 21, 2024, at
9:00 am. Motion Carried without a negative vote.
