EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, August 3, 2009
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Lynn Moris, Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Kyle Vesperman, Dave Wachter,
Dolores Schwantes, Joe Lolwing, Jennifer Crubel, Audrey Johnston, Duane Leeser and Jeff Kast.
Motion by Lynn Moris, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, that the meeting was in compliance with
the open meeting law. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meetings
held July 16, 20 & 27, 2009. Motion carried.
Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report. The Biefer memorial is completed, horse
barn painted and conduit removed from the grandstand. Fines were put in the pole barn and need
to be watered. Gravel will be put on roads.
Youth & Ag Center public property requests were presented. Motion by Kyle Vesperman,
seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to accept the proposed public property requests in the following
order: #1 Engineering Services for new roof on Youth on Agriculture Center - $10,000, #2
Exchange of appliances - $700, Youth & Agriculture Center repair $4000. Motion carried.
Dave Wachter presented computer requests for the UW-Extension Office. Motion by Lynn
Moris, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to approve the computer requests of $2,400. Motion
carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Southwest Opportunity Center representatives Jennifer Crubel and Audrey Johnston were
present to discuss the food stand operation at the 2009 fair.
Duane Leeser was present to discuss the use of the race track kitchen during the fair and cleanup
from the race.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fairgrounds public property requests. Motion by Bob Keeney,
seconded by Lynn Moris, to accept the proposed public property requests in the following order:
#1 Road care - $5000, #2 Cement pad on west end of barn - $6584.50, #3 Gravel and fines -
$1000. Motion carried.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney to put a metal roof on the pit concession
stand.
Jeff Kast from Wisconsin Distributing was present to discuss the beer order for the fair.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman to delay start of vehicle storage for
2009-2010 until November 2. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lynn Moris to pay the Boy Scouts $65 per event plus
cans to clean the grandstand area. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney seconded by Lynn Moris, to donate #1 Farm Tractor to WGLR Holiday
Auction and #2 to the 4-H Leaders silent auction. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman to approve sending the livestock
claim in the amount of $380.50 to the full County Board. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lynn Moris to adjourn until August 17, 2009 at
9:00 a.m.
