EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, July 20, 2009
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Lynn Moris, Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Kyle Vesperman, John Patcle, Ted
Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Joe Lolwing, Scott Chyko, Dave Fritz, Jeff Bowar and Joe Krantz.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lynn Moris, that the meeting was in compliance with
the open meeting law. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by John Patcle, to approve the third amended agenda. Motion
carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to approve the minutes of the meeting
held July 6, 2009. Motion carried.
Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report. Safety fence retaining clips are being
replaced and additional clips are being installed on the Grandstand and will be completed soon.
Conduit will be removed from under benches in the grandstand. Joe will follow up with the race
association to inform them that the berm on the track needs to be lowered before the 2009 fair.
He presented building inspection worksheet and public property request information which he
will continue to work on.
Scott Chyko from Deltra 3 Engineering was present to discuss the possibility of putting a sloped
roof on theYouth & Ag Center. The roof has areas that have been continually leaking.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lynn Moris, to have Deltra 3 Engineering present a
proposal for service and cost estimate on putting a sloped roof on the Youth and Agriculture
Center. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on the Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor job description. Motion by
Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney to approve the revision of the job description.
Motion carried.
Ted Bay presented UW-Extension business. A mandatory furlough of the state employees began
in the fiscal year starting July 1.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to approve the UW-Extension and
Youth & Ag Center vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Dave Fritz, representing the Harry Knohr Wood Turners was present to discuss the possibility of
getting a space at the 2009 fair.
Jeff Bowar from Prairie Beer Distributors was present to discuss products for the fair.
Joe Krantz was present to discuss the Grant County Fair demolition derby.
Motion by Lynn Moris, seconded by Bob Keeney to waive the fee for the Complete County
Committee fair booth. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lynn Moris to approve fair vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to approve sending the livestock
claim to the full County Board. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman to adjourn until July 27, 2009 at
7:00 p.m.
