EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, November 2, 2009
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Lynn Moris, Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Kyle Vesperman, John Patcle, Ted
Bay and Dolores Schwantes.
Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, that the meeting was in compliance with
the open meeting law. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to approve the minutes of the meeting
held October 19, 2009. Motion carried.
Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report. Joe and the maintenance staff patched the
holes on the Youth & Agriculture Center roof. The insurance adjuster spoke with Joe and will
come back to follow up. The skid steer was ordered. Joe spoke with the engineer regarding the
roof on the Youth & Agriculture Center. The engineer is working on information for the roof
project and will continue to do so. Joe will keep following up with him and will call if he
doesn't hear from him. Manure and straw was placed on the race track and looks good. One of
the yard lights on the pole by the livestock pavilion is on during the day. Joe will check on the
problem.
Ted Bay presented UW-Extension business.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Replica tractor sales were discussed.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Lynn Moris to purchase two sets of portable bleachers
from Mark Fulcher at a cost of $3,000 for each set for a total amount of $6,000. Motion carried.
The noise concern with the sale ring in the Livestock Pavilion was discussed.
The committee watched an on-line demonstration on fair management software.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Lynn Moris, to approve and send the livestock claim
from Lancaster Veterinary Clinic on to the full County Board excluding payment for a cat. The
balance to pay is $1458.75, which excludes the cat ($1,539.25-$80.50). The livestock claim
from Platteville Veterinary Clinic in the amount of $130.05 was also approved to be sent on.
Motion carried.
The committee took a five minute recess.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to move to closed session. Roll call
vote was taken and passed unanimously. Motion carried.
Motion by John Patcle, seconded by Lynn Moris to return to open session. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to adjourn. Motion carried.
