EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, November 16, 2009

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Lynn Moris, Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Kyle Vesperman, John Patcle, Ted
Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Joe Lolwing, Dave Timmerman, John Adametz, Bev Lane and other
open draft horse show exhibitors.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Lynn Moris, that the meeting was in compliance with
the open meeting law. Motion carried.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the amended agenda. Motion
carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to approve the minutes of the
meeting held November 2, 2009 adding Joe Lolwing to attendance. Motion carried
Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report. Manure from last sale was put on the
race track. Schmitz Sanitation pumped sewer pits on the fairgrounds. Electrical box boards on
poles were replaced. Yard lights on the pole by the livestock pavilion was checked and electrical
eye will be repaired in the spring. Hog barn roof leaks were repaired. Engineer progress on
Youth & Ag Center roof is on schedule. Updated report on hail storm damage was given.
Leftover saw dust from fair was put in show barn.
Ted Bay presented UW-Extension business. The Memorandum of Understanding with Lafayette
County was presented to the committee. Lafayette County will purchase 20% time from Grant
County's Dairy/Livestock Agent and Crops/Farm Management Agent in 2010. Motion by Bob
Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to sign the memorandum of understanding with
Lafayette County. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lynn Moris, to approve UW-Extension and Youth &
Ag Center vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lynn Moris to place a two -week ad in the newspaper for
the replica tractors. Motion carried.
Improvements for Crops Building displays were discussed.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to upgrade the electrical facility by
the scale in the livestock building not to exceed $2,000. Motion carried.
Changes to show ring in Livestock Facility were discussed.
Motion by Steve Adrian, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to approve the Fair vouchers. Motion
carried.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney to direct the maintenance staff to
construct a backstop in the dairy shown barn. Joe will present a list of required materials at the
next meeting. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to make an exception to the Livestock
Facility being closed in December and allow Vicki Hoesly to hold a dairy sale. Motion carried.
John Adametz was present to discuss the Open Class Draft Horse Show at the 2010 fair.
No one from the Southwest Wisconsin Stock Car Association was present to discuss the 2010
race track contract.
Motion by Lynn Moris, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to move to closed session. Roll call vote
was taken and passed unanimously. Motion carried.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to return to open session. Motion
carried.
Motion by Lynn Moris, seconded by Bob Keeney, to adjourn. Motion carried.
