HomeMy WebLinkAboutOctober 19 MinutesAGRICULTURE AND EXTENSION EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, October 19, 2009 9:00 a.m. UWEX Conference Room Lancaster, WI 53813 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present in addition to Chairman Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Kyle Vesperman, Ted Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Joe Lolwing, Marge Sherwin, Joe Krantz, Jeff Kindrai and Duane Leeser. Lynn Moris was absent. Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney, that the meeting was in compliance with the open meeting law. Motion carried. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to approve the minutes of the meeting held October 5, 2009. Motion carried Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report. Joe and the maintenance staff will repair the damage to the Youth and Ag Center roof to work on preventing leaking over the coming winter. He presented the skid steer bids and they were opened. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to accept the bid from Scott Implement for a three-year contract for a NH L 160 Skid Steer Loader at $949 per year with a maximum of 160 hours or less. Motion carried. Dolores Schwantes presented fair and Fairgrounds business. Marge Sherwin from the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce was present to discuss a Classy Chassy car show at the 2010 Grant County Fair. Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney to hold a car show on Saturday, August 21, at the 2010 Fair, as a cooperative effort with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and the Classy Chassy Car Club. Motion carried. Joe Krantz, from Hard Hit Promotions, was present to discuss demo derbies at the fair. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to have Hard Hit Promotions provide two shows on Sunday, August 22 of the 2010 fair, at a cost of $4500. Details and contract specifics will be worked out. Motion carried. Jeff Kindrai was present to discuss wheel chair use at the fair. Ted Bay presented UW-Extension business. Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve UW-Extension and Youth & Ag Center vouchers. Motion carried. Duane Leeser was present to discuss the racetrack. Duane will report back to the committee before December 1, 2009. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to approve the Fair vouchers. Motion carried. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to move to closed session. Roll call vote was taken and passed unanimously. Motion carried. carried.
