HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Ag &Extension-Fair 7-26-10AGRICULTURE AND EXTENSION EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, July 26, 2010 7:00 p.m. UWEX Conference Room Youth & Ag Center Lancaster, Wisconsin Meeting called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present in addition to Chairman Adrian was Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Grant Loy, Patrick Schroeder, Ted Bay, Dolores Schwantes and Members of the organization that will be helping with the organization of the fair. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Grant Loy, that the meeting was in compliance with the open meeting law. Motion carried. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Dan Bowden & Megan Cooley were not present for the food organizations. Jennifer Crubel & Audrey Johnston representing Southwest Opportunities Center were present and discussed having food there and a sign on the wall. Also asked about the cash register. Dolores was to look into the cash register purchase. Wednesday will be a different menu than Thursday thru Sunday. Kyle Vesperman will be there to organize and help you get set up. Robert Fox, Joe Loy, Tom Nies & Dan Bowden beer hall representatives were not present. Lenore Sydnor & Sheri Rehmus beer hall representatives were present. Discussion about handling money in the grandstand. That is about the only way unless they have purchased tickets before they went into the grandstand. Haven’t decided on the beer price yet. Dr. Tom Hermsen and Angie were present representing the veterinarians. The Vets will be there on Wednesday and on through the weekend. They will be giving Dolores Schwantes a list of Vets and she will be sending out the new animal health rules to the veterinarians. Jack Johnson, representing the sheriff department & Dan Jacobson representing the City discussed no smoking in buildings & checking I.D.’s at the beer hall. Jack is to have a plan in place if we have another missing child. He will get the plan to the fair board soon. Headquarters will be the sheriffs trailer. Tom Taber, representing the American Legion for admission tickets was present. Mr. Taber will have the decision as to stop selling tickets in case it is raining. Color Guard will be Wednesday night at 6:45 pm. Tammy Wagner, representing the Jaycees same prices as last year. Larry Jerrett, representing Farm Bureau, same prices as last year. Pat Klug, representing the Sales Pavilion, same menu, same prices. Would like to have radios in the Livestock Pavilion kitchen and the beer hall. Ms. Klug would like signs marked for some of her help. Randy Peterson be in to check over contracts for additional insured with Dolores Schwantes & will be in Tuesday of fair week for a walk through with Joe Lolwing. Rob Little discussed the fire departments part of the fair. Jackie Edge representing the rescue squad. She discussed having other rescue squads come in. Lancaster would be here Sunday and we have to get rescue squads for Friday & Saturday events. In case of accident call Lancaster & they will come so the show can keep going. Discussion as to the Wednesday nigth race who provides the fire & rescue squads. Ms Schwantes is to check Mr. Simmons contract. Rick Knutson, representing the boy scouts asked about the Wednesday night cleanup. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy to have the boy scouts clean up for $100.00 per event. Would be nice for the boy scouts to recycle plastics. Dolores Schwantes reported Reynolds Electric will be taking care of the electricity for the fair and Grant County Nurses will be staffing the First Aid Station. Jeff Kindrai will be making a sign for first aid station. Joe Lolwing is to check the cooler and freezers to make sure they are working. He has taken care of the garbage clean up. Bev Lane asked for some free passes to get some of their sponsors into the fair grounds. It was discussed and decided that give her 10 tickets and have her have the show finished by 1:00 pm and be out of the racetrack area by 2:00pm so as to get ready for the tractor pull. The Fair Board was to call Mary Wackershauser for a time to record an ad for the fair on WGLR. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Pat Schroeder to put the Green Bay Packer Football on the 4-H Silent Auction. Motion carreied Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to give WPRE $500.00 with 75 ads and 2 remotes from the fairgrounds. Motion carried. Discussion about the Wisconsin Distributors proposal for beer prices and the prizes that they will be furnishing. It was all ok. Waiting for the Prairie beer prices to decide the beer prices. Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to adjourn to August 2, 2010. Motion carried Respectfully submitted Dolores Schwantes Fair Secretary
