EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, January 18, 2010
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Lynn Moris, Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Kyle Vesperman (arrived late), Ted
Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Joe Lowling, Larry Chandler, Matt Stagman, John Chandler, Jacob
Temple, Kaylee Shaben, Craig Temple, Danny Shaben, Mark VanNatta, Curt Yaun, Mike
Raisbeck, Scott Chyko, and Angie Day.
Motion by Lynn Moris, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, the meeting was in compliance with the
open meeting law. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to approve the amended agenda.
Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the corrected minutes of the
meeting held December 21, and minutes of January 11, 12, 13, 2010. Corrections to the
December 21 minutes include the spelling of Classy Chassis and stating that the rate for the use
of the Youth & Ag Center is for a swap meet. Motion carried.
Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report. He presented a long range five year
financial plan. Rates for 2010 garbage/recyclable removal were presented. There was no
information on hail damage. Joe will be attending a class on communication.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Kyle Vesperman to sign a three-year contract with Town
and Country Sanitation. Motion carried.
Ted Bay presented UW-Extension business.
Agent performance reviews will be held on February 17, 2010.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lynn Moris, to approve UW-Extension and Youth &
Ag Center vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Discussion was held on entertainment for the 2010 fair.
A group of racers in support of keeping racing alive in Grant County attended the meeting to
discuss possible people interested in promoting the races and share any other ideas.
Motion by Kyle Vesperman, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the Fair vouchers. Motion
carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lynn Moris, to approve passing the livestock claim in the
amount of $488.50 on to the full county board. Motion carried.
Scott Chyko from Delta 3 presented estimates for three roof improvement options for the Youth
& Ag Center. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to have Deltra 3 pursue
further evaluation of Option 3 providing a new membrane type roof with at least a 25 year
warranty. Option #3 states: Provide a new .060 mil membrane roofing system for the proposed
80’ x 136’ flat roof section of the facility. Costs include adding 3” polyisocyanurate insulation
(R-38), removing any moisture affected areas under the existing membrane, and providing a 25
year warranty.
Angie Day from the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce attended the meeting to present sponsor
information. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lynn Moris to approve joining the
Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. Motion Carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Kyle Vesperman, to adjourn. Motion carried.
