EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, September 20, 2010
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, John Patcle, Ted
Bay, Joe Lolwing, Dolores Schwantes, Troy Pittz, Larry Wagner, Scott Chyko and Rick Sanson.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, the meeting was in compliance with the
open meeting law. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the amended agenda.
Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to approve the minutes of the meeting
held August 30, 2010. Motion carried.
Troy Pittz from Alliant Energy was present to discuss the electric service at the Livestock
Facility.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to accept Reynolds Electric proposal and
Alliant Energy proposal to upgrade the electrical service at the Livestock Facility. Motion
carried.
Larry Wagner from the Lancaster Fire Department was present to discuss use of the buildings
and grounds area for their dance.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to allow the Lancaster Fire Department to
hold their dance at the fairgrounds on May 20, 2011, charging for expenses and utilities and
accepting a donation at the fire department’s discretion. One no vote. Motion carried.
Rental rates and policies for buildings and grounds were discussed.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to change the cleaning and manure
removal fees for the Livestock Facility as follows: 1) Maintenance department cleans manure
from facility and takes care of removal from grounds - $250.00, 2) Renter cleans manure from
facility using own equipment and maintenance department takes care of removal from grounds -
$150.00, 3) Renter cleans manure from facility and removes from grounds using own equipment
– no fee. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to allow receptions to be held in the Youth &
Ag Center when the facility is available no longer limiting the receptions to one a month. Motion
carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder to increase the table rental rate from
$5.00 to $7.50 and leave chair rent at $.25. Two no votes. Motion carried.
Scott Chyko was present to discuss the Youth & Ag Center roof repair and the proposed new
exhibit hall. Geisler Brothers will be invited to attend the meeting October 4, 2010.
Rick Sanson was present to discuss fair advertisement.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Bob Keeney to allow Grant County Land Conservation
department to store their 4-wheeler at the fairgrounds. Motion carried.
Ted Bay presented UW-Extension business.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to approve UW-Extension and Youth &
Ag Center vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to waive the fee for Focus on Energy for an
informational/educational program hosted by the county for county representatives as well as
other local maintenance staff. Motion carried.
Bob Keeney was appointed to represent the Ag & Extension Education Committee/Fair Board on
the Livestock Auction Committee.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Dolores shared information for an outstanding fair person.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to nominate Janet Nichols for the VIP award.
Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen to allow Robert Boardman to park his
camper on the grounds for approximately two weeks the first part of November with guarantee of
a donation. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to apply money received from West
End Salvage toward the roof project. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to approve the fair vouchers. Motion
carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Bob Keeney, to adjourn until October 4, 2010. Motion
carried.

Additional minutes for Agriculture & Extension Education/Fair Committee Meeting held
Monday, September 20, 2010
Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report. He updated the committee on the progress
of Auditorium lighting. Joe installed two programmable thermostats in the Extension Office. He
will be receiving information from Focus on Energy on the thermostats being installed in the
Youth & Ag Center. The committee directed Joe to place straw from the livestock facility on the
race track. The committee agreed with Joe that it is O.K. to install door knobs with lever handles
to replace crash bars on milk house door in livestock facility.
