EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, December 19, 2011
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, John Patcle, Ted Bay, Dolores
Schwantes, Carla McAndrew, Rick Place, Kent Cohen, Angie Day and Steven Crane.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center, and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meetings
held November 21 and December 5, 2011. Motion carried.
Carla McAndrew presented grounds and maintenance report.
Rick Place and Kent Cohen were present to discuss Lancaster Sluggers batting cage.
Discussion of skid steer trade was held.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen to contact Dewey Tire Service for cost of
four new tires, assessing alternatives to trading skid steer. Motion carried.
Angie Day, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce was present to discuss the Winter Fest, February
11, 2012 and the Big Wheels Event for June 30, 2012.
Ted Bay presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Extension Agent performance reviews were set for February 17.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to pay Extension and Youth & Ag
Center vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen to pay Fair vouchers. Motion carried.
Discussion of Eckstein kitchen facilities.
Lancaster area Veterans' Memorial fund raising event was discussed.
Discussion was held on the fair convention.
Discussion of Country Showdown at the Grant County Fair for Sunday, August 19, was held.
Discussion exploring possibilities of fair entertainment for Saturday night of the 2012 Fair was
held.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to adjourn until January 9, 2012.
Motion carried.
