EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, June 20, 2011
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, John Patcle, Ted
Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Brian Heinrichs, Ione Meoska, Carla McAndrew and Mike Holzer.
The meeting notice was posted at the Extension Office and Youth & Ag Center and media by
Jenny Belscamper.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
May 16, 2011. Motion carried.
Maintenance report was given by Brian Heinrichs. Carla McAndrew will review the
maintenance budget and Focus on Energy program progress.
Ione Meoska, on behalf of the Grant County Cattlemen, asked to use table and chairs for a
fundraising event.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder to waive the fee for tables and chairs
for the Cattlemen fundraiser July 1. Motion carried.
Ted Bay presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen to pay Youth & Ag Center and
Extension vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to deny the bill for patio landscape design
from SC Fleming Architect LLC. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen to keep the same menu throughout the
fair with the addition of hamburger and cheeseburgers on Wednesday night. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to take out requirement for EMT
ambulance service at possible future go-kart events as long as the promoter has written
confirmation that the promoter’s liability insurance will cover the event without the presence of
EMT emergency ambulance service and with approval of county legal counsel. Motion carried
with one no vote.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder to go with Plan 1 as submitted by Mike
Holzer for displaying dioramas in the Eckstein Exhibit Hall during the 2011 Fair. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to hire Reynolds Electric to install electricity
to the Rabbit & Poultry Building. Motion failed.
Recess at 12:00 p.m. to visit diorama display layout
Reconvene at 12:10 p.m.
Carla will get additional bids on Rabbit & Poultry Building electricity.
Cost of committee meetings was discussed. The first meeting of the month will be charged to the
Extension budget. The second meeting of the month will be charged to the Fair. If only one
meeting a month is held the cost will be charged to Extension.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to approve Fair vouchers. Motion
carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to adjourn until July 1, 2011. Motion
carried.
