EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Friday, April 1, 2011
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, Grant Loy, John
Patcle, Ted Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Brian Heinrichs, Steve Fleming, Scott Chyko, Todd Wolf
and Angie Day.
The meeting notice with amended agenda was posted at the Administration Building, Youth &
Ag Center and media outlet by Lori Vesperman.
Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by John Patcle, to move the closed session to first item on
agenda due to phone conference. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
March 22, 2011. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to move to closed session. Roll call vote was taken
and passed unanimously. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Grant Loy, to return to open session. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to post a meeting notice for Thursday,
April 7, 2011, 2:00 p.m. to allow Joe Lolwing to come and speak on his own behalf. Motion
carried.
Steve Fleming presented information on a proposed layout of the brick patio by the Eckstein
Exhibit Hall.
Brian Heinrichs gave the grounds and maintenance report. Brian and Gary fixed the chain link
fence damaged by snow.
Angie Day gave update on progress of plans and promotion for the Big Wheels event.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Scott Chyko, Delta 3, gave an update on the Eckstein Exhibit Hall progress.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to pay all change orders except the $300 for
the truss repair. Motion failed.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to pay the total of the change orders.
Motion passed with one no vote.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to make a change order for up to
$1,000 to move the sidewalk next to the building. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to allow SMA to use the Eckstein Exhibit
Hall for two days for a fundraiser waiving the fee. Motion carried.
Ted Bay presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Ted reported on the WACEC conference.
Discussion was held regarding a Grand Opening for the Eckstein Exhibit Hall.
Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by Lester Jantzen to have a Grand Opening for the Eckstein
Exhibit Hall with a target weekend of May 21/22, 2011. Motion carried.
Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to adjourn until April 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
The next meeting will be held April 21, 2011. Motion carried.
