EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, February 7, 2011
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, Grant Loy, John
Patcle, Ted Bay, Joe Lolwing, Dolores Schwantes, Todd Wolf, Dan Jenamann, Dave
Timmerman and Angie Day.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Youth & Ag Center and media
outlets.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the agenda. Motion
carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
January 17, 2011. Motion carried.
Joe Lolwing gave the grounds and maintenance report including progress on ongoing
maintenance and energy upgrades.
Ted Bay and Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Discussion was held on construction insurance for the Eckstein Exhibit Hall.
A contest will be held for an emblem design that will be the centerpiece for a walkway
recognition of contributors to the Eckstein Exhibit Hall with the theme being Youth – The
Foundation of Our Future.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to hold a design contest for individual
youth from organizations and school art departments. The first place winner will be awarded
$100 and an All Event Pass along with a Mega Pass for the 2011 Grant County Fair. The
honorable mention will receive an All Event Pass and a Mega Pass. Pat Schroeder will donate
$100 cash to an organization the individual designates for the organization to use as they wish.
One no vote. Motion carried.
Dan Janemann was present to discuss the Dairyland Antique Tractor Pull at the 2011 Grant
County Fair.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to delegate Bob Keeney to run the local
tractor pull and to enter into a contract with Dairyland Antique Tractor pullers for $400 for
August 20, 2011. One no vote. Motion carried.
Todd Wolf gave an update on the construction of the Eckstein Exhibit Hall.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz and seconded by Pat Schroeder, to have Elaine Bottomley perform
in the Entertainment Tent from 2:00-5:00 p.m. for Senior Citizens’ Day Friday, August 19, 2011,
for $300.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to have Stevie J perform in the
Entertainment Tent from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. on Saturday evening, August 20, 2011, for
$400.00. Motion carried.
Angie Day was present to discuss the Big Wheels weekend being held in July 2011.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy, to enter into a contract with Badger State
Tractor Pullers and Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen to put advertisement for the 2011
Grant County Fair in the Reminder. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy, to choose the bold/rectangle standing poster
design for the 2011 Grant County Fair. Motion carried.
Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to rent a slush machine from Gassers for
the 2011 Grant County Fair and check to see if a price can be negotiated for use during the entire
fair. One no vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to adjourn until February 21, 2011.
Motion carried.
