HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes November 21 2011AGRICULTURE AND EXTENSION EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, November 21, 2011 9:00 a.m. UWEX Conference Room Lancaster, WI The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, Bev Doll, Dolores Schwantes, Carla McAndrew, Larry Wagner, Jeff Anderson, Angie Day, Jim Ley, Dave Wachter and Bob Middendorf. The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag Center, and media by Jenny Dixon. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the minutes of the meeting held November 7, 2011, with correction. Add: Chair Steve Adrian did not vote on agenda item regarding committee size. Motion carried. Carla McAndrew presented grounds and maintenance report. Larry Wagner, Lancaster Fire Department was present to discuss holding the Firemen’s Dance on the fairgrounds in 2012. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder to allow the Lancaster Fire Department to use the grounds for the June 16, 2012 Firemen’s Dance for cost of utilities. Motion carried. Jeff Anderson was present to discuss the online Grant County Fairbook. Angie Day, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce was present to discuss holding a Winterfest event at the Eckstein Exhibit Hall and grounds area. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to allow the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce to hold the Winterfest event on February 11, 2012 with alcohol. Motion carried. Jim Ley stopped in to thank the Grant County Fair Board for their support of the Grant County Antique Tractor Club, also for inviting them to the fair and allowing them to help with the tractor pull. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to reduce the fee for Classy Chassis Club for their use of the Youth & Ag Center in February 2012. Motion carried. Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business. Dave Wachter was present to discuss criteria for hosting Farm Technology Days in Grant County. The Bucket flower project was discussed. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to have a Bucket of Flowers contest for the 2012 Grant County Fair. Motion carried. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to allow Lancaster FFA Alumni to use tables and chairs for the annual FFA breakfast at no cost. Motion carried. Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business. Bob Keeney was named Outstanding Fair Person and Janet Nichols V.I.P. by the Association of Fairs. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Pat Schroeder to sign the contract with Tri-State Truck and Tractor for Friday night of the 2012 Grant County Fair. Motion carried. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen to adjourn until December 5 at 9:00 a.m. Lester Jantzen will be excused. Motion carried.
