EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, October 17, 2011
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, Grant Loy, John
Patcle, Ted Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Carla McAndrew, Rick Place, Don and Pat Steinbach,
Vicki Flynn, Joe Krantz and Bob Middendorf.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center, and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
October 3, 2011. Motion carried.
Don & Pat Steinbach were present to discuss use of the Eckstein Building. The committee and
Steinbachs came to an understanding there will be a $50 discount for the Steinbachs.
Vicki Flynn was present to discuss Boy Scout Day Camp on the Fairgrounds.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen not to charge the Boy Scouts for using
the Fairground facilities for their day camp. Motion carried.
Rick Place was present to discuss building use for Lancaster Youth Baseball.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to enter into agreement with Lancaster
Youth Baseball program for use of the Eckstein Hall. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to move to closed session per statute
19.85 (1) (c). Roll call vote was taken and passed unanimously. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to return to open session. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Pat Schroeder to fill the Fair Manager position in mid-
March due to Dolores Schwantes’ retirement. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen to raise the Fair Manager position from 32
hours per week to 40 hours per week at that time. The recommendation will be sent on to the
Executive Committee. Motion carried.
Maintenance report was given by Carla McAndrew.
Ted Bay presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Ted announced the meeting date, location and time for Memorandum of Understanding with
Lafayette County.
Ted gave the summary of WACEC District 2 meeting.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to pay Youth & Ag Center and
Extension vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Joe Krantz, Hard Hit Promotions, was present to discuss the demolition derbies of the 2011 and
2012 Grant County Fairs.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to enter into agreement with Hard Hit
Promotions for the 2012 Grant County Fair for $2,750 per show for two shows, leaving the
option open for a show Saturday. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve Fair vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Pat Schroeder to promote sponsorship of the Grant
County Fair through the new sponsorship opportunities schedule. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to adjourn until November 7, 2011 at 9:00
a.m. Motion carried.
