HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes October 3 2011AGRICULTURE AND EXTENSION EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, October 3, 2011 9:00 a.m. UWEX Conference Room Lancaster, WI The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, Grant Loy, John Patcle, Ted Bay, Dolores Schwantes, Carla McAndrew, Rick Place, Bart Straka, Jeff Kindrai, Pat Gorski, Rick Sanson, Rob Spangler and Bob Middendorf. The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office and media by Lori Vesperman. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meetings held September 19, 2011. Motion carried. Rick Place and Bart Straka were present to discuss building use for Lancaster Youth Baseball. Maintenance report was given by Carla McAndrew. Ted Bay presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business. Ted shared information on the WACEC District 2 Meeting. Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business. The job description for the Fair Manager position was reviewed. Jeff Kindrai was present to discuss Livestock Claims regarding observation of dogs for rabies. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to approve payment to the Grant County Health Department in the amount of $225.66, to be paid at the end of the year if funds are remaining, for Veterinary Services paid for observation, vaccination and boarding fees of canines. Motion carried. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to continue Thursday night entertainment for the 2012 Grant County Fair the same as 2011 with Catch-A-Pig and Mutton Bustin’. Motion carried. Fair sponsorship opportunities were discussed. Pat Gorski, Rob Spangler and Rick Sanson were present to discuss the Country Showdown. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to enter into agreement with Liquid Encouragement and WGLR to hold the Country Showdown at the 2012 Grant County Fair. The Grand Prize will be increased to $500 with a total cost of $1750. Motion carried. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to adjourn until October 17, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. Motion carried.
