EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, September 19, 2011
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, John Patcle, Ted Bay, Dolores
Schwantes, Carla McAndrew, Bill Broihahn, Rick Place, Bart Straka and Bob Middendorf.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center, and media by Jenny Belscamper.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the agenda with corrections.
Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meetings held
August 15 with correction, and August 18, 19, 20, 21, 2011. Motion carried.
Bill Broihahn was present to discuss the Eckstein Exhibit Hall donor sign.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to go with the plastic wood grain material
with the dollar value engraved to highlight each category and keep a ½ inch gap between signage.
The sign will be placed on the south wall, centered between the west wall and overhead door.
Motion carried.
Rick Place and Bart Straka were present to discuss building use for Lancaster Youth Baseball.
Maintenance report was given by Carla McAndrew.
Ted Bay presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to accept the Extension Office budget and
send on to finance director as a preliminary budget. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen to accept the Youth & Ag Center operating
budget and send on to the Finance Director as a preliminary budget. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to approve Extension Agent contracts.
Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to pay Youth & Ag Center and Extension
vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
The Fair Board accepted a donation from Premier Coop for $1,000 and a matching donation of
$1,000 from Land O’Lakes, Inc. Feeds for the Eckstein Exhibit Hall.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to leave building rates the same. Motion
carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to nominate Steve Adrian as Outstanding
Fair Person and Janet Nichols as VIP for state fair convention. Motion carried.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve Fair vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to pass the livestock claim from Lancaster
Veterinary Clinic in the amount of $223.83 on to the full county board. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to adjourn until October 3, 2011 at 9:00
a.m. Motion carried.
