EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, February 20, 2012
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, John Patcle, Bev
Doll, Dolores Schwantes, Betsy Olson, Angie Day, Eric Gelbach, Carson Wackershauser, Pat
Klug, Mary Brandemuehl, Carson Alcorn and Bob Middendorf.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center, and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the minutes of the
meetings held January 9, 10, 11, and 20, 2012. Motion carried.
Angie Day from the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce was present to discuss the Big Wheels
event.
Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Bob Keeney to pay Extension and Youth & Ag Center
vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to pay Fair vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to have the Larry Busch six-piece band
perform Friday afternoon and Country Tradition for Friday night, August 17, of the 2012 Fair.
Motion carried.
Amy Olson accepted the Fair Manager position and will start March 19.
Eric Gelbach was present to discuss the truck pull at the fair.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to accept the donation of a flag from
the Pennekamp family to be placed in the Eckstein Exhibit Hall. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Lester Jantzen to allow the Veterans' Memorial fund
raising activity committee to use the Youth & Ag Center at no cost if they decide to use it.
Motion carried.
Betsy Olson was present to discuss fair book changes.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to accept fair book changes as
presented except for Department 1 - Dairy and Foods upon talking to Ione. Motion carried.
Carson Wackershauser, Pat Klug, Carson Alcorn and Mary Brandemuehl, representing the Grant
County Livestock Trust, presented a donation for $7,900 to be used for purchasing gates and a
trailer, repair a wash rack and replace boards in the Livestock Facility.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to pass on to the full county board the
livestock claims from Lancaster Veterinary Clinic in the amount of $488.05. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder to adjourn until March 5, 2012. Motion
carried.
