EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, March 19, 2012
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman
Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, John Patcle, Bev
Doll, Dolores Schwantes, Amy Olson, Betsy Olson, Steve Braun and Bob Middendorf.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center, and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
March 5, 2012. Motion carried.
John Patcle gave the grounds and maintenance report.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to allow John Vesperman to clip grounds
area with same stipulations as last year. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on heating system in Eckstein Exhibit Hall.
Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to award the Grant County Farm
Progress Days Scholarship to applicant #1, Shea Esser.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to allow the Lancaster High School
OJT program to hold their banquet at in the Eckstein Exhibit Hall on May 9, 2012 at no charge.
Donations are welcome to cover utility costs. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Lester Jantzen to adopt the Extension Resolution
celebrating 100 years and pass it on to the full county board. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to pay Extension and Youth & Ag Center
vouchers. Motion carried.
Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Dolores received contracts from Larry Busch Band and Country Traditions.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to approve the commercial exhibit
space contract. Motion carried.
Steve Braun was present to review the emergency plans for the 2012 Grant County Fair.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Pat Schroeder to pay Fair vouchers. Motion carried.
Betsy Olson was present to discuss 4-H club entertainment at the fair.
Motion by Lester Jantzen, seconded by Pat Schroeder to move to closed session per statute 19.85
(1) (c). Roll call vote was taken and passed unanimously. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen to return to open session. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to adjourn until May 7, 2012. Motion
carried.
