HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarch 5 2012 Ag & ExtAGRICULTURE AND EXTENSION EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, March 5, 2012 9:00 a.m. UWEX Conference Room Lancaster, WI The meeting was called to order by Chairman Steve Adrian. Present, in addition to Chairman Adrian were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Grant Loy, Lester Jantzen, Pat Schroeder, John Patcle, Bev Doll, Dolores Schwantes, Rick Place, Karin Peacock, Jane Tennesen, Brian Lucey, Eric Gelbach, Betsy Olson and Bob Middendorf. The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag Center, and media by Jenny Dixon. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the minutes of the meetings held February 17 & 20, 2012. Motion carried. Rick Place was present to give an update on the Lancaster Sluggers batting cage and present a check for $500 for compensation. Karin Peacock, Grant County Master Gardener President, was present to discuss use of the Crops Building May11 & 12, 2012, for their plant sale. Discussion was also held on Bucket of Blooms for the 2012 Fair. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Lester Jantzen, to allow Grant County Master Gardeners use of the Crops Building at no fee, as in the past. Master Gardeners will make a donation. Motion carried. Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business. A resolution commemorating the 100th anniversary of Cooperative Extension will be brought to the committee next month. John Patcle gave the grounds and maintenance report. Dolores Schwantes presented Fair and Fairgrounds business. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy to enter into agreement with Cook and Belle for Saturday evening, August 18, 2012, to play in the entertainment tent for a cost of $3,500. Motion carried. Betsy Olson joined the discussion about fair entertainment. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy, to pass on to the full county board the livestock claims from Lancaster Veterinary Clinic in the amount of $1,255.40. Motion carried. Jane Tennesen and Brian Lucey, representing Road Crew, were present to discuss working at the beer and food stands at the 2012 Grant County Fair. Eric Gelbach was present to follow up on discussion of the truck pull at the 2012 Grant County Fair. Emergency plans for the 2012 Fair were discussed. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy to adjourn until March 19, 2012. Motion carried.
