EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, August 6, 2012
9:00 a.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman John Patcle. Present, in addition to Chairman
Patcle were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Roger Guthrie, Grant Loy, Larry Wolf, Ted Bay,
Amy Olson, Jack Johnson, Nate Dreckman, Tom Bennett, Shelly Holmes, John Adametz, Carol
Steiger and Dave Wachter.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center, and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the minutes of the meeting held
July 23, 2012 with the correction of adding Larry Wolf to those who were present. Motion
carried.
Amy Olson gave the grounds and maintenance report.
Dave Fritz will donate shirts for maintenance staff to wear during the fair and Grant Loy offered
to pay $95 for printing on the shirts.
Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to accept Grant Loy's and Dave Fritz's
donations. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Roger Guthrie to purchase a washing machine with a 10-
year warranty and renew the lease for the stove and refrigerators in the Youth & Ag Center
through Hermsens. Motion carried.
Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Amy Olson presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Jack Johnson was present to discuss security for the fair.
Tom Bennett, representing West Grant Lion's Club, was present to confirm their club's interest in
working beer concessions at the 2012 Grant County Fair. Motion carried.
Shelly Holmes was present to ask permission to add a junior goat entry for her child.
Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by Bob Keeney to allow the Holmes' late entry for the 2012
Grant County Fair. Motion carried.
John Adametz was present to discuss the Draft Horse Show.
Carol Steiger was present to ask permission to turn in late fair entries for the 2012 Grant County
Fair for her son.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Roger Guthrie to allow the Steiger's late entries for the
2012 Grant County Fair. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on a Casey Craugh memorial donation.
Dave Wachter was present to share information on swine at the fair.
Discussion was held on volunteers for beer and food stands at the Fair. Jane Tennesen will take
care of the grandstand food stand money and Steve Adrian will take care of the beer concession
money.
Murray's Dairy & Refrigeration (Jim Murray) is donating a freezer for ice during the 2012 fair.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Roger Guthrie to have the fair provide two mega passes to
Paul Esser for providing sheep for the Muttin Bustin. Motion carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Roger Guthrie for the fairgrounds to offer $500 to Land
Conservation for their trailer, but have no interest in the ranger. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy, to pass the livestock claim from Platteville
Veterinary Clinic in the amount of $75.00 on to the full county board to be paid in full. Motion
carried.
Motion by Bob Keeney, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to adjourn until August 16, 2012.
Motion carried.
