HomeMy WebLinkAboutAg & Ext Minutes April 15 2013AGRICULTURE AND EXTENSION EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING Monday, April 15, 2013 9:00 a.m. UWEX Conference Room Lancaster, WI The meeting was called to order by Chairman John Patcle. Present, in addition to Chairman Patcle were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Pat Schroeder, Grant Loy, Roger Guthrie, Larry Wolf, Bev Doll, Amy Olson and Jeff Anderson. The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office and Youth & Ag Center and media by Lori Vesperman. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meeting held April 1, 2013. Motion carried. Amy Olson gave the grounds and maintenance report. Jeff Anderson was present to share information regarding wireless access on the fairgrounds. He will test equipment and coverage. Discussion was held on the swine barn roof leaning. The poles are fine but rafters are an issue. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to have Delta 3 look at the swine building. The project needs to be completed before fair. Amy reported that weapons signs must be posted on all entrance doors. Public Property will cover the cost of the signs. Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by Bob Keeney to approve Youth & Ag Center and Fairgrounds vouchers. Motion carried. Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business. Discussion was held regarding the alcohol policy in the Youth & Agriculture Center. The policy will remain the same. Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to approve Extension vouchers. Motion carried. Amy Olson presented Fair and Fairgrounds business. Lancaster City Police Department suggested that the bar area remain open until 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy, to purchase a nacho cheese dispenser. Motion carried. Update was given on the Uppena pig from the 2012 Fair. No money or meat was received by the exhibitor from Fennimore Butcher Shop. Motion by Roger Guthrie, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to have the Fair pay Uppenas for the pig and request Todd Infield to send a letter to the Butcher Shop requesting them to reimburse the Fair. Motion carried. Thunder in the Valley event requested to use bleachers for July 6. They can pick them up after the Summer Festival. It was suggested to again exchange advertising for the cost of using the bleachers. Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy, to rent bleachers to Thunder in the Valley same as last year. Motion carried. Amy gave Fairest of the Fair update. There is one applicant in addition to four applicants for Junior Fairest of the Fair. The banquet will be May 2. Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney to approve Fair and Fairgrounds vouchers. Motion carried. Joel Ames, Classy Chassis, requested permission to have vendors set up a tent and give away water during the car show at the fair. Request was denied due vendor space fee. Set agenda for May 20, 2013, meeting. Motion by Grant Loy, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz, to adjourn until May 20, 2013. Motion carried.
