EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, July 8, 2013
2:00 p.m.
UWEX Conference Room
Lancaster, WI
The meeting was called to order by Chairman John Patcle. Present, in addition to Chairman
Patcle were Bob Keeney, Vince Loeffelholz, Pat Schroeder, Grant Loy, Roger Guthrie, Larry
Wolf, Bev Doll and Amy Olson.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office and Youth &
Ag Center and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to approve the minutes of the meeting
held June 17, 2013, with correction. Motion carried.
Amy Olson gave the grounds and maintenance report.
Jeff Anderson gave an update on the wireless project on the Fairgrounds. They are working on
installing wireless access point.
Bev Doll presented Grant County Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Bev Doll gave an update on the 4-H Youth Development Educator position. The state team is
reviewing applications and plan to hold preliminary interviews in Madison July 30-31.
The Cub Scouts asked permission for a few adults coming to town late in the evening of
October 18 to spend the night on the Fairgrounds for a training being held on October 19.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Vince Loeffelholz to allow the adults coming to the
Fairgrounds for a Cub Scout training on October 19, to spend the evening of October 18 on the
Fairgrounds. Motion carried.
Bev Doll shared information on a Cool Choices competition between Extension Office teams
across the state. Cool Choices promotes environmental sustainability while working together as a
team.
Amy Olson presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
The Summer Festival was discussed.
Grant Loy gave a $20 donation to Muscoda Lions for using their bean bag boards at Summer
Festival.
The contract was signed for West Grant Saddle Club for use of the Fairgrounds arena.
Twelve applications were received for the LTE maintenance position at the Fairgrounds.
Interviews will be scheduled.
Amy asked for permission for Premier to hold their annual event on the Fairgrounds August 6,
2013.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Bob Keeney to allow Premier Coop to use the Open Dairy
Pole Shed and kitchen in the Livestock Facility for their annual event on August 6, same as in
past years. Motion carried.
Mary Peterson, Lancaster Area Veterans’ Memorial, will be in the WGLR tent during the 2013
Fair selling raffle tickets for a mini chopper. She can move to other areas of the Fairgrounds,
except for the midway area.
Amy will contact Vanguard to mark underground lines on the Fairgrounds. The markings are
good for 10 days from date when job is completed.
First Merit Bank will be handing out freezy pops in the livestock area on Friday, August 16, of
the 2013 Fair.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Grant Loy, to pass the livestock claim from Lancaster
Veterinary Clinic in the amount of $524.15 to be paid in full on to the full county board. Motion
carried.
Set agenda for July 22, 2013, meeting.
Motion by Vince Loeffelholz, seconded by Bob Keeney, to adjourn until July 22, 2013. Motion
carried.
