EDUCATION/FAIR COMMITTEE MEETING
Monday, February 2, 2015
9:00 a.m.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman John Patcle. Present, in addition to Patcle were Grant
Loy, Pat Schroeder, Mark Stead, Dan Timmerman, Bob Keeney, Bev Doll and Amy Olson. Roger
Guthrie was excused from the meeting.
The meeting notice was posted at the Administration Building, Extension Office, Youth & Ag
Center and media by Jenny Dixon.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Dan Timmerman, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to approve the minutes of meeting held
January 19, 2015. Motion carried.
Amy Olson gave the grounds and maintenance report.
Discussion was held on the Youth & Agriculture Center alcohol policy. The policy will remain the
same.
Bev Doll presented Grant County UW-Extension and Youth & Ag Center business.
Performance reviews for the agents will be held February 23 at 9:00 a.m.
Amy Olson presented Fair and Fairgrounds business.
Discussion was held on Lafayette County Speedway’s proposal. The proposal will be sent back and
other options investigated.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy to have a $5,000 purse for barrel and bull riders at
the 2015 Fair rodeo. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Dan Timmerman to give a $100 gift card to Bob Stader and
recognize John Tydrich for help provided to the fairgrounds on their own time. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Dan Timmerman to accept contracts with Classy Chassis,
Dairyland Antique Tractor Club and Larry Busch Band. Motion carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Mark Stead, to set admission prices for the 2015 Fair as
follows:
Wednesday - $10 for 18 years and older, $6 for 13-17 years, no charge for 12 years and under
Thursday - $5 for adults, no charge 12 years and under
Friday - $10 for adults, no charge 12 years and under
Saturday - $10 for adults, no charge 12 years and under
Sunday Noon - $5 for adults, no charge for 12 years and under
Sunday Evening - $10 for adults, $2 for 12 years and under
Motion carried.
Motion by Dan Timmerman, seconded by Mark Stead to set the cost of the All Event Pass at $25 for
early purchase and $30 after early deadline. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on campers parked on the fairgrounds during the fair.
Motion by Dan Timmerman, seconded by Pat Schroeder, to have exhibitors pay $25 and non-
exhibitors pay $50 to bring a camper for the weekend. Campers must stay parked for the entire
weekend, leaving the grounds at 6:00 p.m. Sunday night. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Dan Timmerman to have Country Roots and Cowboy Boots as
the 2015 Fair theme. Motion carried.
Fairest of the Fair and Junior Fairest of the Fair competition will be held April 28, 2015.
Woolwich Dairy would like Grantland Graphics to make their advertising sign. The material of the
previous sign was not sturdy enough to hold up for weather.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy, to leave the vendor space contract the same. Motion
carried.
Motion by Pat Schroeder, seconded by Grant Loy, to approve sending the livestock claim from
Lancaster Veterinary Clinic to be paid in full on to the full county board. Motion carried.
Motion by Mark Stead, seconded by Grant Loy, to adjourn. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be held February 23, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
